Summer School applications for 2024 are now available. The first session lasts from June 3 through 21; the second session lasts from June 24 through July 12. Courses taken for credit recovery are free for Newark students. The cost is $153 for one semester and $204 for both for Newark students, or $230 and $300 or out-of-district students. Middle school classes are only offered during the second semester, and fees are free for class re-takes. Every Month, Newark City Schools honors 30 students in grades 4 through 12 from across the district as Citizens of the Month, for their leadership and actions inside and outside of the classroom. Students and their families are invited to a lunch in their honor to celebrate their achievements. The April 2024 Citizen of the Month luncheon was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Newark, Ohio.
